Saving runs and saving lives for the people of India!

Ready to become a potential lifesaver?

Every match played is a challenge and Suresh Raina knows all about that with his impeccable skill set on the field. Whether it's a certain way you deliver a bowl or swing your bat, the challenge posed is always real. However, patients suffering from blood cancer or a blood disorder face the biggest challenge of all - surviving. This is why we need your help!

DID YOU KNOW?

  • Every 5 mins someone in India is diagnosed with blood cancer or a blood disorder; which means 1,00,000 Indians are diagnosed with blood cancer each year.
  • A stem cell transplant can be the only chance of survival for many of these blood cancers and blood diseases like Thalassemia, Aplastic Anemia and Sickle Cell Anemia.
  • Only 0.03% of Indians are registered as blood stem cell donors. The need for more Indian blood stem cell donors is critical for patients to find a matching donor.

Together against Blood Cancer!

Suresh Raina has joined us in our efforts to support the mission of saving lives. Each new registration creates a new possibility of a second chance at life for blood cancer and blood disorder patients.

“Every 5 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer and blood disorder in India. And I came to know that most of them are young patients or children who fight these life-threatening diseases. All my life I have learned to face challenges however, there is no greater challenge that one a family has to face when their loved one is diagnosed with a form of blood cancer. This situation can only be changed when more and more people from different ethnicities in India are a part of the donor registry maintained by NGOs like DKMS-BMST. This can be done with a simple step of registering as a blood stem cell donor and give these patients a second chance at life.” - Suresh Raina, Indian Cricketer

DKMS-BMST is dedicated to helping patients suffering from blood cancer and blood disorders find a matching donor by registering more people on the registry. Till date, we have registered over 44,000 potential stem cell donors, but the need for more donors persists. DKMS-BMST is providing you a platform to act! Join the Lifesaver Squad and join our community of lifesavers.

Where do you fit in?

The representation of Indians on the global registry is very poor. This reduces the probability of a patient trying to find a matching donor. So, when it comes to finding a matching donor, a person with the same ethnic background as a patient may be a better match than one who comes from an entirely different background.

YOU can provide patients in need of a stem cell transplant, hope for a second chance at life by registering as a blood stem cell donor.

When you join the stem cell registry, you give hope to a patient who is in urgent need of a stem cell transplant and provide them with a chance for a healthy future.
