A few days after your preliminary health check, your reports will be reviewed by the collection center physician and you will be cleared to donate stem cells.
The results of your preliminary health check will be informed to you by the workup team experts. And then it’s all systems go! Somewhere in the world, a blood cancer patient awaiting your donation will now be prepared for the transplant: their diseased immune system will be completely shut down by chemotherapy, in a process called “conditioning”. And now more than ever, their life depends on your stem cell donation – and only yours! If all goes well, the transplant will succeed and the patient will develop a new, healthy immune system – purely because you made it happen.
